Legislature passes Landowner’s Bill of Rights

Austin—Last night the Senate unanimously passed House Bill 1495 to require governments that condemn private property to provide landowners a clear, timely notification of their rights. Authored by Rep. Bill Callegari (R-Houston) and sponsored by Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville), the bill passed the House of Representatives earlier this month without opposition.

Legislature Passes Bill Increasing Penalties for Those Covering Up Crimes

Austin—Tuesday, HB 872 by Rep. John Otto (R-Dayton) and sponsored by Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) was approved by the Legislature after unanimously passing the Senate. The bill, which previously passed the House without opposition, raises the penalty for tampering with evidence from a third degree felony to a second degree felony.

Nichols’ bill to Help Prevent Child Fatalities Set to Become Law

Austin—Today, the Texas House unanimously approved SB 802 by Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) to help the state better understand and prevent child fatalities. SB 802, which was previously approved by the Senate, adds a member from the Texas Department of Transportation and a member from the Department of Public Safety to the State Child Fatality Review Team Committee.
