I met with Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, Acting Gov. Dan Patrick, and Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd to discuss damage from tropical storm Beryl and the E2 tornado. I will continue to work with federal, state, and local officials to ensure our communities have the resources they need.

I enjoyed meeting with Jefferson County Drainage District No 6 General Manager Dr. Joe Majdalani. We discussed their regional approach to drainage solutions in Southeast Texas. Drainage districts serve a pivot role in flood damage reduction. Thank you for your hard work to mitigate flood hazards and maintain critical infrastructure.

Yesterday, I traveled to Orange County for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Gisela Houseman Medical Campus. I want to especially thank Gisela Houseman for her donation of the land and Dr. Rutledge for his leadership on this project. Orange County is the largest county in the state without a hospital. This facility will provide much-needed access to healthcare.
